The Coalition Victory ban makes sense to me since any deck that can play the card always has access to a single creature that meets the criteria for the win condition. All you need is all 5 basics and your commander to win

I've been running a straight lifegain Sorin (clerics and angels) and OTK'ing players with Revival // Revenge. Absolutely eating Nadu's alive with massive Sorin blasts while having a blast!

I’ve played with people that ban sensei’s top and/or sol ring. The idea that some group of random players coming to a “consensus” on what is banned and why is stupid. I’m sure I’m not alone in noticing that nobody from WotC or otherwise was at my last friend meetup leering over the table making sure we weren’t playing “banned” commander cards.
